About the Position: This position is located at the Andrew Radar US Army Health Clinic, Ft Myer, VA

Duties

Provide safe transportation from satellite locations such as Veterinary Clinics and other Clinics. Maintain the Environmental Management System [EMS] and the Regulated Medical Waste Program (RMW) according to DHA regulations and instructions from first level supervisor. Receive and sign for incoming equipment and supplies. Use basic computer skills to access information systems, to retrieve data pertaining to temporary storage, and to process information regarding hazardous materials/hazardous waste. Perform receipt, identification, and storage of hazardous material in accordance with the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and the Clean Water Act (CWA). Identify, label, and segregate hazardous waste in preparation for disposal. Transport medical supplies and equipment between local DHA locations on a weekly or semi-weekly basis; and transport equipment to and from more distant locations periodically.

  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to obtain and maintain a valid Government Driver's License.
  • This position has a requirement to obtain a Transport of Biomedical Materials certification within 6 months.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Materials Handler (Motor Vehicle Operator) ~ without more than normal supervision performing the work which includes 1) Transporting medical supplies and equipment between local DHA locations on a weekly or semi-weekly basis, 2) Inspecting respective areas within the facility, and 3) Receiving incoming equipment and supplies. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Do the Work of the Position without More Than Normal SupervisionAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Other Than Blueprint Reading)Dexterity and SafetyKnowledge of MaterialsTechnical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic)Work Practices (Including Keeping Things Neat, Clean, and in Order) PHYSICAL EFFORT: Exerts moderate physical effort in the loading, unloading, and arranging of materials. Frequently handles items weighing 30-50 pounds and occasionally items weighing up to 70 pounds with assistance. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside the warehouse, vaults, bin rooms, open storage areas, and on receiving or shipping docks. The areas may be cold, drafty, damp, or hot. Work is in close quarters of the warehouse or bin aisles, ramps or platforms. Exposed to injury from falling stock, from handling broken glassware, and some danger of contact with acids, toxic materials, or noxious fumes. Cuts, bruises, and broken bones may result from shifting loads, toppling stacks, forklift overturning, or accidents with other moving equipment. Is required to wear/use protective clothing and equipment in accordance with established safety requirements.
