The Congressional Budget Office is a small nonpartisan agency that provides economic and budgetary analyses to the Congress. The Information Resource Management and Technology Services Unit, which is within the Management, Business, and Information Services Division, seeks a Senior Systems Engineer who has expertise in all phases of the software development life cycle as well as broader experience in information technology (IT) operations and management.
Duties
The successful candidate will have experience with design, implementation, maintenance, and administration of information systems infrastructure, both traditional on-premises and cloud-based. The engineer monitors overall system performance by proactively identifying and resolving potential issues and troubleshoots complex IT systems issues. The engineer manages and administers network server and storage capacity infrastructure at a local data center, off-site facilities, and cloud-based environments such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure. In addition, the engineer must handle multiple tasks simultaneously and complete projects under tight deadlines. The engineer must interact effectively with people at every level of the organization, so strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.

Qualifications
This position requires the following:A minimum of eight years of experience with AWS cloud technologies or cloud computing environmentsA minimum of three years' experience with AWS tool suites: Amazon Cloud Front, Amazon S3, Internet of Things, AWS Lambda, Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud, AWS Chatbot, and othersExperience with developing and deploying automated processes, coding proficiency, and experience with DevOpsExperience with deploying and managing development environments that include languages such as Anaconda Python, Spyder, R, RStudio, ShinyExperience with developing backup/recovery solutions and disaster recovery (continuity-of-operations planning)Thorough knowledge of Windows Server Administration on a public cloud platform The ability to write complex PowerShell scripts for the automation of system tasks and system administrationThe ability to design and translate complex business requirementsThe ability to work within a team and work independentlyThe ability to negotiate service level agreementsThe ability to obtain a Tier 2 (public trust) clearanceTECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:See Qualifications above
Education
EDUCATION:
A bachelor's or advanced degree, in computer science, technology management, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Preferred certification: CompTIA Security+; optional certifications: AWS SysOps Administrator, AWS Data Engineer, CompTIA CASP, CISSP, Azure Developer, or Azure DevOps Engineer
