About the Position: Works under the Deputy to the Commander who makes assignments in terms of broad general objectives and limits of the program. Provides services to all active duty, family members and the civilian work force at the Installation.
Duties
As a Suicide Prevention Program Manager, you will perform the following duties which is not an all-inclusive list:
Serves as manager of the installation Suicide Prevention Program and works in conjunction with
the Installation Community Health Promotion Council (CHPC) to ensure that suicide prevention
activities are carried out.
Serves as installation POC for Suicide Prevention and serves as local subject
matter expert on Army policy/procedures related to suicide prevention
Communicates and
coordinates with relevant agency staff across the installation on an on-going basis in order to fully
integrate a community approach to suicide prevention per AR 600-63.
Responsible for integrating all organization and active duty unit
efforts toward minimizing suicidal behavior.
Briefs installation command as requested on unit compliance with established training objectives
related to suicide prevention
Participates in National/DoD/Local Suicide Prevention Conferences to further knowledge and
education.
Provides technical guidance to support unit personnel and Medical/mental health officers in the
completion of the Depart of Defense Suicide Event Report (DoDSER).
Provides coordination of all suicide prevention training events delivered to the serviced population
and maintains data base of training statistics by civilian organizations and active duty units.
Disseminates suicide prevention posters, training materials, graphic training aids to garrison
organizations and active military units

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This is a Term position scheduled to last 3 years. A term position may be extended to a maximum of six years depending upon the needs of management or made permanent.

Basic Requirements:
Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
or
Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
or
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: assisting with suicide prevention programs; arranging or providing technical briefings, orientations, training, and workshops involving support programs; developing program policies and procedures; and preparing correspondence and reports using a variety of automated systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR
Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
