About the Position: This position is for Department of Medicine at Evans Army Community Hospital Fort Carson, CO. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Produces specialized diagnostic recordings of electromotive variations in action of heart muscle, using electrocardiograph, while patient walks on high-speed treadmill, to provide data for diagnosis of heart ailments. Produces recordings of electromotive variations in patient's heart muscle, using electrocardiograph to provide data for diagnosis of heart ailments. Analyzes data from cardiac-function monitoring device (holter monitor) worn by patient for 24-hour period for use in diagnosis of cardiovascular disorders. Monitors heart rhythm pattern of patients to detect abnormal pattern variances. Maintains awareness of new developments and adaptations of equipment and techniques through literature and participation in training.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination. A candidate selected to this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to annual seasonal influenza vaccination.
  • This position is inclement weather essential. This means that you must be willing to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
  • This position has been designated as a Drug Testing Designated Position and is subject to a pre-employment screening and random testing thereafter.
  • This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association. Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination to ensure the required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation with Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training.
  • Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
  • Federal Law prohibits employment of certain individuals who have committed criminal activity related to fraud, waste, or abuse against healthcare programs from employment in this position.
  • Any candidate tentatively offered this position will be required to sign a statement acknowledging consent to initial screening through the Office of the Inspector General,

  • This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.

Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in:Demonstrated experience conducting electrocardiographs, Holter Monitors, treadmills, and cardiac event monitors; Providing alternative procedures for tests, such as manipulating electrocardiograph controls, program information to the electrocardiograph computer, and edit EKG printouts; Operating electrocardiograph equipment and accessories to conduct specialized examinations and studies involving stress testing, ambulatory monitoring of arrhythmias and pulse tracing; Providing emergency medical care by recognizing cardiac arrhythmias, to include atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, and ventricular premature beats. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
