About the Position: This position is located at Evans Army Community Hospital, Fort Carson Colorado.
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.
A recruitment or relocation incentive MAY be authorized.

Duties
Sets up, adjusts, and operates the MRI equipment.
Assists radiologist or physician in reading or evaluating results.
Performs magnetic resonance imaging of heads, spines, extremities, and bodies.
Receives patients, explains method of procedure, positions patients, counsels patients regarding the risks/benefits of the procedure.
Produces hard copy images by applying the correct width/levels (contrast and brightness) via a laser camera.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ARRT (MR) certi?cation.
- The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations.
- Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
- This position requires the incumbent to work shift work hours which include weekends and night schedules.
- This position may require the incumbent to work rotating shift work hours (a work schedule where people move through a continuous cycle of working day, swing, and night shifts) based on mission requirements.
- This position may have specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.

In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes setting up, adjusting, and operating magnetic resonance imaging equipment; performing magnetic resonance imaging exams; and assisting in reading or evaluating results. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
***** American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) certification is preferred, but not required.

Education: Two full years of graduate level education or a master's degree in a field directly related to the work of the position.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
