About the Position: Serves as the Accounting Officer for HHBN V Corps, G-8 Fin Programs & Resources, HQ Section Fort Knox, KY.

Duties

Perform duties as the principal Accountant and responsible for a staff providing accounting support to HQ V Corps and all downtrace units. Lead reviews to determine, select, and organize appropriate data (production reports, material records, payroll records, and equipment records, etc.) for use in measuring command performance. Present briefings, resulting from the performance of professional analysis; selects alternatives, and provides authoritative recommendations. Perform reviews and analysis to provide guidance and feedback to managers, protect the integrity of government resources, and recommend operational, procedural or systems modifications.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to work extended and/or other than normal duty hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime to the extent determined by the supervisor.
  • Must be able to perform business related travel up to 20% of the time.
  • Must be able to receive inoculations IAW DoD requirements for travel to specific countries.
  • Must be able to travel using military transportation or non-commercial means of travel.
  • This position is designated Mission and Furlough Essential.
  • THIS IS A FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT Level 2 Certified position designated as such IAW the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Public Law 112-81, Subtitle F-Financial Management, section 1051, amending 10 United States Code, section 1599d.
  • This position requires a SECRET T3 Clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a no-fee Special Issuance Passport (SIP) and associated visa while assigned to a Federal civilian position in an area requiring a passport and associated visa.

I have a bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in accounting, or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) B. I have a combination of education and experience which includes at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. My background also includes one of the following: (1) Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. This can include up to 6 hours of business law; OR (2) A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination; OR (3) Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing, e.g., 15 semester hours, but that does not fully satisfy the 24-semester-hour requirement of paragraph A, provided that(a) the applicant has successfully worked at the full-performance level in accounting, auditing, or a related field, e.g., valuation engineering or financial institution examining; AND (b) a panel of at least two higher level professional accountants or auditors has determined that the applicant has demonstrated a good knowledge of accounting and of related and underlying fields that equals in breadth, depth, currency, and level of advancement that which is normally associated with successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in paragraph A; AND (c) except for literal nonconformance to the requirement of 24 semester hours in accounting, the applicant's education, training, and experience fully meet the specified requirements. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS12 grade level which includes providing accounting support; developing alternative options to support managers; performing reviews and analysis to provide guidance and feedback. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
