This vacancy is for a Trade & Industry Analyst located in the Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security, the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Export Administration (EA), Office of Strategic Industries and Economic Security (SIES), Defense Programs Division (DPD).

Duties

As a Trade & Industry Analyst, you will perform the following duties: Conducts research using available industry and government data to support office programs. Assists senior staff members on more complex issues; conducts research; develops options; assists in document review; and recommends further action. Prepares written products to inform leadership of findings and/or recommendations for actions. Expresses ideas both orally and in writing to leadership and representatives within the interagency. This experience need not have been in the federal government. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify at the GS-09 level: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience: Researching current or new management practices for multiple programs or operations; and Preparing and delivering effective briefings to managers and clients on U.S industrial and national security and/or critical technologies; and Using software programs to compile and organize data drawn from a variety of sources. -OR- SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION: Master's or equivalent graduate degree. or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. or LL.B. or J.D., if related. -OR- COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A combination of the required experience and education for this grade level.
