The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a first-level supervisor and Training Manager providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to the training section within the 628th Security Forces Squadron.

Duties

Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of Training Section, ensuring that Training section complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Represents 628th Security Forces Squadron Training with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Prepares written correspondence and other documentation.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes directing and supervising the work of the Training Section for the squadron that is responsible for a wide range of training programs and initiatives IA W AFI 36-2646, AFI 36-2651 and AFI 31-117. Planning, developing, coordinating, scheduling, accomplishing, and/or monitoring various training activities to include military and civilian security forces training to include formal and Home Station Training to include Law and Order Operations, self-defense, Use of Force, CFETP's, Small Arms, etc. Preparing lesson plans and teaches personnel in various Security Forces functional activities. Planning, coordinating, and executing training exercises. Monitoring progress of students, documents results, and takes remedial and corrective action to include additional training and changes in training and/or operational procedures and instructions. Preparing or assisting in the preparation of training documentation and reports. Obtains and develops training aids and materials. OR EDUCATION: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-009 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of a wide range of security concepts, principles, and practices to review, analyze, and resolve difficult and complex security problems. Knowledge of a broad range of security program relationships to make recommendations allowing for differing program requirements, and multiple security objectives. Knowledge of DoD and Air Force antiterrorism and force protection doctrine, policies, and instructions to coordinate objectives and develop plans for interrelated security programs. Knowledge of security systems, practices, principles, and procedures utilized in other DoD agencies, as well as private industry, to ensure up-to-date security applications. Ability to plan, organize and negotiate effectively with management to accept and implement recommendations, where proposals involve substantial resources, and require extensive changes in established concepts and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; negotiate complex issues; and maintain good working relationships. Ability to staff/coordinate packages with Command and other agencies. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
