You will serve as a SHEET METAL MECHANIC in the PRODUCTION TRADES DIVISION of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.
Duties
You will utilize skills and knowledge to manufacture and repair parts, tubing, hoses, aircraft components working from prints, technical manuals and other written or verbal instructions and assists equivalent and lower-graded employees.
You will read and interpret complex blueprints, sketches diagrams and detailed instructions.
You will set up, operate and program various Computerized Numerical Control cutting machines.
You will operate sheet metal manufacturing hand tools and conventional power equipment.
You will provide an estimated completion schedule and respond to appropriate correspondence as required.

- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position requires the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to accomplish various tasks. Also, you must be aware and comply with all safety practices to avoid hazards assumed with trade.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position is subject to lifting items weighing up to 40 pounds without assistance, and over 40 pounds will not be attempted unaided.
- Work assignments involve walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, sitting, climbing and lifting.
- You must be aware and comply with all safety practices to avoid hazards assumed with trade.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of the Position without more than normal supervision, where you have the ability to perform common tasks under general supervision including 1) Accomplishing assigned work before releasing the material to the next process; 2) Utilizing industry-standard tools such as hand tools, cutting tools, and various shop equipment, including water jets, NC machines, and forming equipment; 3) Using precision measuring devices and equipment; 4) Operating a range of equipment, including furnaces, methanol gas panels, and atmospheric control electronics like endothermic generators and gas manifolds. This equipment is used for the heat treatment of metal components for aircraft, engines, and tools.
