You will serve as a SMALL ARMS REPAIRER in the Protection Support Operations division of NAVBASE POINT LOMA SEC DET.
Duties
You will monitor law enforcement personnel to ensure compliance with agency standards and policies governing employee proficiency in the use and care of assigned firearms.
You will advise other employees on regulatory requirements for the Small Arms Range maintenance and cleaning.
You will research technical information regarding the care, handling, or display of small arms, ordnance, or related artifacts.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
Qualifications

I have the ability to perform the full range of tasks on my own initiative under general supervision including 1) Disassembling, repairing, and rebuilding small arms such as rifles, pistols and shot guns; 2) Performing operational checks and adjustments on completed weapons; 3) Utilizing hand tools (e.g., files, drills and hammers) to smooth burrs and scratches in metal parts or to replace loose rivets in receivers or other assemblies. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection.
