You will serve as a Small Arms Repairer in the Force Protection Division of NAVBASE POINT LOMA SEC DET.

Duties

You will monitor law enforcement personnel to ensure compliance with agency standards and policies governing employee proficiency in the use and care of assigned firearms. You will advise other employees on regulatory requirements for the Small Arms Range maintenance and cleaning. You will prepare reports (e.g., industrial hygiene, environmental) to management for status updates on small arms range operations. You will research technical information regarding the care, handling, or display of small arms, ordnance, or related artifacts.

• This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Disassembling, cleaning, and performing maintenance on small arms such as revolvers, automatic pistols, shot guns and rifles; and 2) Assembling small arms in accordance with instructions and manuals; 3) Manually operating small arm assemblies to check for proper action/operation. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
