This position serves as videographer and photographer for the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), in the Digital Services Division (DS), Office of Safety Recommendations and Communications (SRC), in Washington, DC. The incumbent will work with in collaboration with the senior audiovisual production specialist on a wide variety of mission-related products.

Duties

As a Videographer, GS-0301-12, you will perform the following major duties: Plans, coordinates, and executes a wide variety of visual information projects to communicate agency messaging. Serves as videographer and Photographer for Internal and external agency events, including investigation launches. Serves as Division contact to consult with project managers, program managers, and others to develop a mutual understanding of the objectives of video and still photography usage for product development. Launches as a member of the Go-Team for SRC. Captures video and still photos of the launch and investigative activity, in consultation with the Investigator-In-Charge (IIC), provides technical support for press briefings and press conferences, ensures that press briefings are recorded, edited and posted to the agency video channel (s).

  • THIS POSITION IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR REMOTE TELEWORK.
  • If selection is made below the full performance level, promotion up to the full performance level may be made without further competition. However, promotions are not automatic or guaranteed and will depend on the performance and supervisor approval.
  • Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement.
  • Due to the unusual nature of NTSB's mission, the incumbent of this position will be required to be available for assignment 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • The incumbent will occasionally travel to capture video and still photos to support NTSB Board Members and investigative staff of all transportation modes during accidents launches, while on-scene or at headquarters.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE GS-12 LEVEL: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector). Specialized experience is defined as: (1) Operating audiovisual equipment to provide support to organizational events. (2) Maintaining a diversified range of audiovisual equipment. (3) Providing video streaming support for various organizations. (4) Performing a variety of duties associated with video productions. (5) Experience using industry-standard software to create professional audiovisual products, and using music libraries, stock footage, and post­production services, to acquire the elements needed for an audiovisual production. (6) Experience managing the set-up and operations of audiovisual recording equipment.
