This position is a Maintenance Mechanic WG-4749-9, working in Cibola, Arizona, for the Cibola National Wildlife Refuge.

Duties
As a Maintenance Mechanic, your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Operate a variety of agricultural tractors and associated implements such as swathers, plows, discs, blades, and mowers.
Manage and repair open and closed agricultural irrigation systems.
Install, modify, repair, maintain, or troubleshoot new or existing plumbing piping, valves, pumps, strainers, controls or equipment.
Perform work using common hand tools and simple power equipment such as hatchets, ladders, screwdrivers, axes, picks, tampers, hand saws, clippers, buffers, grinders, power saws, weed trimmers, low-pressure sprayers, powered push lawn mowers, chain saws, etc.
Perform routine maintenance and repair work to light and heavy equipment, and replace worn-out parts.

- Probationary Period: Selectee may be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

- Duties of this position require the employee to obtain and maintain a valid Class A State Commercial Driver's License (CDL) to operate various vehicles and equipment.

Although no specific amount of experience, education or training is required, applicants must meet a minimum level of ability in relation to the position and the Assessment Questionnaire in order to be rated qualified for consideration. To be qualified candidates must meet any screen out element(s) listed at an "acceptable" level, and must achieve an average rating of at least "acceptable" on all of the elements. Only education, training, or experience acquired before the closing date will be considered.
SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire.
