About the Position: Join us at the United States Southern Command. We provide direct support to a four-star unified Combatant Commander, but are compact enough that our staff also works with senior leadership representatives of our inter-service, inter-agency and (public and private) international partner organizations. Our contribution to furthering our country's relationships with South and Central American nations and peoples are substantial.
Duties
Assign production requirement tasks to individuals and follow up to ensure completion.
Develop training aids in support of deployments.
Ensure deployments meet all the criteria for travel: administrative, personnel, equipment and funding requirements accomplished with the appropriate lead time to execute as planned.
Ensure all deployments are properly opened and closed for financial tracking.
Maintain weekly and monthly calendar and help prioritize Branch efforts.
Collect weekly financial reports to enter into financial systems to help track obligation rates and ensure funding does not expire.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement 15% of the time.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- Overtime may be required on short notice. Shift work may be required on a 24/7 basis. Incumbent may be required to temporarily work extended and irregular tours of duty to include days, nights, shifts and weekend and holidays.
- Must be able to obtain an official U.S. passport.
- Position is designated as a "Key Position" in accordance with AR 690-8. Because of the essential nature of this position, shall require that it not be filled by Ready Reservists to preclude such positions from being vacated during a mobilization.

GS-12 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes demonstrated experience 1) Coordinating organizational strategies to drive mission objectives 2) Organizing working groups to use cross functional team dynamics to generate products 3) Interpreting strategic documents to prioritize resourcing efforts 4) Functioning in a U.S. Embassy role working with international affairs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
GS-11 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes demonstrated experience 1) Utilizing organizational strategies to drive mission objectives 2) Participating in working groups to use cross functional team dynamics to generate products 3) Analyzing findings to recommend changes to enhance efficiency. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR
Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Administrative Management.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
GS-09 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes demonstrated experience 1) Working in groups to generate products 2) Measuring success of organizational inputs and outputs 3) Interpreting documents to establish priorities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration or Human Resources.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
