These positions are Career-Seasonal appointments and are permanent positions that include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work from approximately early May to mid-April, and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year. One of the positions being filled is a Required Occupant position. Occupancy of government quarters is required. Housing may be available for the other position.

Duties

The incumbent performs preventive maintenance, operational checks, repair, layout, installation, troubleshooting, tracing, locating defects and modifications on all new and existing electrical systems, generators, photovoltaic systems, and hydro-electrical systems throughout Yellowstone Park. The incumbent installs, maintains, and repairs electrical equipment in accordance with CFR 19910.331-5 and NFPA-70, The National Electrical Code (NEC). Work consists of installing and troubleshooting Meters, Main Distribution Centers, Panelboards, Load Centers, Circuit Breakers, Control Equipment, Lighting and Power Outlets, Disconnects, Solenoids, Relays and Lighting Fixtures. The incumbent accurately bends and installs EMT, Rigid, IMC, Flex, PVC, and Wiremold type conduits for installation of electric systems. The incumbent must be able to appropriately apply the NEC to projects in order to select the correct materials and methods for an installation or repair. Work is undertaken in visitor centers, museums, offices, employee housing areas, maintenance facilities, public buildings, and/or shops. The incumbent must be able to install, maintain and repair Electric Motors, Pumps, Control Wiring, Relays, Starters, and Telemetry Systems, particularly those units required for waste water treatment plant operation, water systems, and HVAC systems. The incumbent plans and lays out the panels, boxes, circuits, fixtures, transformers and other electrical devices, and determines size, type and arrangement to meet applicable codes for the safe operation of electrical systems, circuits and equipment park-wide. The incumbent works from plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, repair manuals and related codes. The incumbent may perform some carpentry, masonry and painting work in areas where electrical systems have been installed. This requires a thorough working knowledge of power tools, hand tools, construction materials, and equipment operation, and the incumbent must use appropriate safety equipment and follows standard safety procedures while performing the varied duties of this position.

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability to do the Work of an Electrician Without More than Normal Supervision (SCREEN-OUT) Possession of a valid WY, MT, or ID state issued Journeyman Electrician License (or equivalent from another state) (SCREEN-OUT) Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Knowledge of Electrical Equipment Theory and Instruments (Electrical Electronic) Used in Shop and Trade Practices Ability To Use Electrical Drawings Ability To Use and Maintain Hand Tools (Electrical Work) If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration.
