Performs a variety of tasks involved in the upkeep of various building systems, such as floors, walls, ceilings, roofs, windows, doors, etc. Typical work assignments include the performance of visual inspections or response to work requests to determine the need for, and the performance of repairs/modifications on a level of difficulty and responsibility of trades. Work consist of carpentry, building maintenance and roofing duties necessary for maintaining all aspects of building systems.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Hangs and installs related hardware such as hinges, locks, flush bolts, closers, thresholds.
Repairs mill work such as tables, drawers, cabinet doors, bulletin boards, benches, shelving ladders, pictures and other wooden objects.
Repair all types of roofing systems, including coping, flashing, downspouts, etc.
Construct and install cabinets and counter tops.
Installs rafters, studs, sills, plates, braces, joists, floors, sub-floors, panels (including sheetrock, metal studs, plywood, and veneers), siding, sheathing, roofing, building paper, insulating materials, door and window frames, and interior and exterior trim.
Plans and lays out complex work in accordance with drawings, sketches, blueprints and own knowledge of construction.
Use a variety of hand tools, power tools, and stationary shop tools. Maintain all tools in proper working condition.
Selects, cuts, turns, shapes, joins, bonds, fits, assembles and decorates wooden materials and parts using the full range of hand and power woodworking tools and techniques.
Install, modify and maintain metal acoustical grid ceilings, handrails and grab bars, cubicle curtain tracks, all types of shelving, installation and maintenance of furniture.
Install various wall mounted items.
Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Thursday, 12:00 pm - 10:30 pm

Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Incumbent must be able to lift and carry eighty (80) pounds. Must be able to constantly climb ladders, walk and perform light to moderate bending and stooping. During normal day to day operations, individual will be required to perform simple grasping, fine hand manipulation, reaching above shoulder height.
