About the Position: Serves under general administrative supervision of the Army Community Service (ACS) Division Chief, serving a large or medium garrison. As the FAP Manager, manages, coordinates and directs the installation Family Advocacy Program independently.

Duties

Carries out program management responsibility for the installation Family Advocacy Program. Ensures compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and meeting customer needs. Coordinates social work services with other programs of service such as Child protective services, US Army Criminal Investigation Services, Staff Judge Advocate, Chaplains, state and local social service agencies. Ensures that all cases receive immediate action, including evaluation, treatment and supportive services. Proposes and writes service contracts; monitors the operation of contracts for professional services to be provided by contractors and civilian and social service agencies. Develops and implements a post-wide prevention and education program which includes providing information to the community about child and spouse maltreatment and information about referral resources. Briefs installation commander and serves as a subject matter expert and advisor to the garrison on family abuse issues. Directly supervises a staff of professional social workers which may be multidisciplinary, and includes a registered nurse and support personnel, and are both military and civilian less than 25%. The position has responsibility for a small staff and does not meet the full intent of the supervisory guide

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Background / records checks, CNACI is required for this position since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
  • Occassional TDY may be required 5% of the time.
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and answer phone calls after normal duty hours to include weekends and/or holidays.
  • Position requires a current valid unrestricted license to practice clinical social work.

Basic Requirement for Social Worker (Family Advocacy) Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below. AND Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience within a family advocacy environment; performing crisis intervention, case management, and administrative tasks to prevent and treat child, spouse and partner abuse; organizing community services on behalf of clients; developing and coordinating procedures for the use of services. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). REQUIRED LICENSURE: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction is required and MUST be submitted with your Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
