About the Position: This position is located at the Army Health Clinic, Presidio in Monterey, CA This is a Direct Hire Solicitation A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.

Duties

Social Worker providing individual and group clinical counseling services using various evidenced based modalities as clinically indicated for adults to assist clients to identify and manage personal, psychological, and interactive problems. Coordinate with patients work environment, social service agencies, primary care, specialty clinics and other organizations to promote seamless service and support to patients. Work with highly complex cases in which individuals are severely impacted by moderate to severe psychiatric diagnoses to include factors such as history of trauma, co- occurring conditions and suicide. Provide case management services to effectively manage patients enrolled in behavioral intensive outpatient behavioral programs and prevent crises. Regularly coordinate with other clinics, family advocacy program, Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program, installation chaplain services, Service Member commands, social service agencies, and other organizations that support the patient. Execute performance initiatives through revision of clinical standards and procedures. Perform a variety of quality management/quality assurance duties to meet The Joint Commission (TJC) and Department of Health Agency (DHA) requirements.

• Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
• Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Basic Requirement for Social Worker (Clinical): Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting bio-psychosocial evaluations, providing individual or group clinical counseling, and developing treatment plans and/or recommendations for behavioral health patients. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction.
