In this position, you will serve as an Attorney Advisor for the Office of Chief Counsel and will be responsible for serving under the immediate supervision of the Principal Deputy of PLB. Candidates must have strong research, writing, and communication skills; the ability to work independently; and the ability to represent the agency at a high level both internally and externally. The qualifications listed below must be met within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. All applicants must possess the following: 1) A J.D. or LL.B. degree from an ABA accredited law school; and 2) An active membership, in good standing, of the bar of a state, territory of the United States, the District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. You qualify for this position if you possess the following: To qualify for this position at the GS-14 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the Federal or Private Sector and must demonstrate all of the following: Applicants must have at least three (3) years of full-time legal experience of which at least two (2) years is specialized experience (SE) that is I directly related to the line of work of this position, which has equipped the applicant with knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. SE includes (1) independently analyzing and interpreting federal and state statutes, regulations, and policies; Executive Orders; and judicial and administrative decisions in the course of rendering advice; and (2) providing legal advice on complex statutory, regulatory and policy matters involving all stages of federal personnel employee lifecycle matters. At least one of the two years of specialized experience must be at a level of a GS-13. To qualify for this position at the GS-15 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the Federal or Private Sector and must demonstrate all of the following: Applicants must have at least five (5) years of full-time legal experience of which at least four (4) years is specialized experience (SE) that is I directly related to the line of work of this position, which has equipped the applicant with knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. SE includes (1) Independently analyzing and interpreting federal and state statutes, regulations, and I policies; Executive Orders; and judicial and administrative decisions in the course of rendering advice; and (2) providing legal advice on complex statutory, regulatory and policy matters involving all stages of federal personnel employee lifecycle matters. At least two years of the specialized experience must be at a level of difficulty of a GS-14.
