This vacancy is for a Supervisory IT Specialist (DataMgmt/SysAnal) position in the Demographic System Division located at the U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters in Suitland, Maryland. The Census Bureau is accessible from the Metro Rail Green Line - Suitland Station.

Duties
Provides supervisory assistance to subordinate personnel during the planning, execution, and evaluation of projects to ensure compliance with the scope and objectives
Interviewing prospective candidates, evaluating present employees to recommend appropriate actions regarding hiring, promoting, and reassignment
Perform a full range of management functions, including long-range planning, instructing and advising subordinate staff members, reviewing work, setting standards of performance, budgetary planning, etc.
Planning, directing and coordinating the development, preparation and implementation of technical operational specifications involved in the processing of statistical data; Planning and monitoring electronic digital computer systems processing.

Qualifications
Specialized Experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes: Managing and directing the work of the branch including providing IT support and data processing, data collection support and post data collection processing. Develops software applications using languages such as SAS and/or Python and coding standards (guidelines, best practices, conventions, etc.). Planning and implementing system integration and various testing operations for assigned software and ensures technical requirements are met. Ensures the development and delivery of quality software products that meet customer needs.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer.
