Duties

As an Information Technology CyberSecurity Specialist, at full performance level, you will perform the following duties: Develop cutting-edge and creative solutions to address complex technical and investigative challenges, including DevOps (development and operations) to create and maintain scalable platforms (e.g. cloud, bare metal), web development/design (e.g. PHP, JavaScript, Python), and data engineering to include ingestion of disparate data sets and interaction with data as required by systems and applications (e.g. Kibana, Hadoop, Spark, SQL); Work within teams to identify new opportunities for investigative systems, analytics, and network functionality based on new and emerging technologies and/or threats; Perform consultations in support of data analysis in furtherance of HSI investigations both within and outside the continental United States; and Review and report on proposed new systems, networks, and software designs for potential security risks.

Basic Qualifications: In order to meet basic qualifications for GS-2210 positions, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the competencies defined below: Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Oral Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Specialized Experience: In addition to demonstrating the basic qualifications listed above, applicants must also demonstrate possession of specialized experience. You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Identifying needs for criminal investigative computer systems and network functionality based on new and emerging technologies and/or threats; Conducting research and development for emerging technologies tailored for investigational and training needs; and Providing training to less experienced agency personnel. You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-13 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Identifying needs for criminal investigative computer systems and network functionality based on new and emerging technologies and/or threats; Conducting research and development for emerging technologies tailored for investigational and training needs; Providing training to less experienced Information Technology Cybersecurity Specialist agency personnel; and Reviewing advanced network architecture and reverse-engineering of source code for malicious software. Qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Qualification claims will be subject to verification.
