About the position: The Joint Munitions Command provides the Joint Force with ready, reliable, lethal munitions at the speed of war. JMC's mission is to support the production, storage, distribution, and demilitarization of munitions. This position serves as an Explosives Safety Specialist located at Rock Island, Illinois.

Duties

In depth knowledge of processes related to the methods of manufacturing, handling, and transporting various explosive materials. Knowledge of ammunition and explosives and the industrial equipment used in the manufacturing and demilitarization of products. Provides continuous monitoring of the explosives safety program to determine compliance with established policies and regulations. Evaluates the technical aspects of the overall explosive's safety program for JMC. Determines appropriate risk assessment methodologies and develops hazard analyses (HA). Monitors explosives and chemical agent safety exceptions (waivers, exemptions, secretarial certificates) on Deliberate Risk Assessment Worksheets (DRAW) or Deviation Approval and Risk Acceptance Documents (DARAD). Knowledge of processes related to the methods of manufacturing, handling, and transporting various explosive materials.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• TDY is required 35%
• Position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. The incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019 and must pass urinalysis testing, as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
• Incumbent is required to attend specific ammunition and related classes, to become certified IAW AMC R 350-4, and required to obtain and maintain CF-12, Safety Professional certification.
• CF-12 Explosives Safety Professional Certificate, and radiation basic, advanced, and shipping courses certifications within one year of employment.
• This position is subject to the Lautenberg amendment to the gun control act of 1968 which makes it a felony for anyone who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence to ship, transport, possess, or receive firearms or ammunition.
• Civilian personnel of the Department of the Defense are not exempt from this provision. Therefore, as a condition of employment, selectee will be required to sign a form acknowledging understanding of this provision.
• Incumbent is subject to a medical clearance examination prior to employment. This position may require an annual physical or medical surveillance examination
• This position requires the employee drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required and must be maintained for the position. Installation driving privileges are automatically granted unless suspended or revoked

Suggesting corrective measures based on analysis of accident contributing factors to prevent future occurrences. And 4. Writing local policies that support compliance with higher level safety and occupational health directives.
