This position is located in the Division of Insurance and Research, Banking & Regulatory Policy Section, Financial Risk Management Branch of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and provides support in the development and analysis of policy issues, positions, and recommendations affecting the FDIC's insurance, supervision, and resolution activities. Duties

Independently monitors and evaluates developments in the financial services industry to identify issues of importance to the FDIC as well as developing and implementing appropriate solutions. Independently researches topics of relevance to the FDIC. Serves as a subject matter expert in the interpretation and analysis of applicable policy, statutory and regulatory guidelines for the development and assessment of corporate policies and policy initiatives. Provides interpretation of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act, FDIC rules and regulations, and other relevant depository institution law. Leads projects to develop and participates in writing and editing studies, policy guidelines, legislative initiatives and proposed and final regulations related to deposit insurance assessments and other banking and financial regulation issues. Prepares written testimony for congressional hearings on proposed legislation and current issues in the banking and financial services industry as they arise. Represents the Associate Director and Division on inter-agency task forces, committees and working groups on all aspects of corporate policy initiatives. Provides staff and technical leadership for the planning, execution and revision of the full range of Corporate policy initiatives and program activities. Provides guidance and assistance for lower graded staff on methodology, techniques, practices and applications in policy analysis and evaluation.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Additional qualifications information can be found here. To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CG/GS-14 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as 1) experience gained in the financial services industry evaluating the policy implications of legislative and regulatory proposals affecting an organization’s functions and responsibilities; and 2) developing corporate policy.  Applicants must have met the qualification requirements (including selective placement factors – if any) for this position within 30 calendar days of the closing date of this announcement.
