This position is permanent, career-seasonal position. Career-seasonal positions are guaranteed to work at least 6 months but not more than 50 weeks per year and include all the benefits of permanent employment. The nonpay/nonduty time for this positions is expected to be a two week period in November or early December but can vary due to project requirements or weather conditions.
This position is located in the Division of Facility Management and Operations.
Duties
Coordinate and lead multi-disciplinary teams for project design, planning, and execution ensuring project goal and objective are met in a timely manner.
Provide professional landscape architectural guidance based on understanding of major principles and industry standards.
Perform contracting officer's representative duties for AE services and construction contracts.
This position is located in Mammoth Hot Springs, Wyoming. Elevation at Mammoth is 6,200 feet. Temperatures vary from an average of 70 degrees Fahrenheit in summer to sub-zero at times in winter. A school is available, with kindergarten through 12, in Gardiner, Montana, five miles north of headquarters. Free bus transportation is provided for school children between Mammoth and Gardiner. Many community facilities such as stores, a drugstore, day care, motels, and restaurants are available in Gardiner. A medical clinic is available in Mammoth. All other services are available within 55 to 75 miles from Mammoth. Housing is not available for this position. Housing may be available through the Yellowstone National Park bid process.
Qualifications

Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect either full-time or 40 hours per week. If a part-time work schedule is reflected, the hours must be annotated to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience.
To qualify for this position you must possess all of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
Basic Requirements:
A degree in landscape architecture or landscape design
OR
For each year short of graduation, one year of experience under professional leadership and guidance of such character and diversity as to be a satisfactory substitute for the required education. This experience must have included original landscape design.
AND
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
GS-11: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: designing simple to complex multi-disciplinary projects such as developing or rehabilitating campgrounds, housing areas, entrance stations, visitor centers, primary roads, bridges, transportation systems, administrative development areas, parking and bus facilities, large outdoor areas or large restoration/re-vegetation areas; planning projects or design projects in cultural landscape settings such as National Register, or in Historic Districts or their state or local equivalent.
You must include hours per week worked.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least 3 years (54 semester/81 quarter credits) of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. You must include transcripts.

COMBINATION:
Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. You must include transcripts.
GS-12: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: reviewing, planning and developing designs for construction, repair or maintenance projects; preparing contract design and construction packages; development, execution and project management of multiple projects; knowledge of project management principles and concepts; applying the technical principles, practices, procedures of project development; managing contractors or similar.
There is no substitution of education for experience at the GS-12 grade level.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an
accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.
If you are using
education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
