About the Position: This position falls under the Defense Health Agency Atlantic Network in the Facilities Management Department of the Naval Health Clinic, Cherry Point, North Carlina performing a variety of tasks involved in constructing, altering, maintaining, and repairing the healthcare facilities. Additionally, incumbent will perform a variety of tasks involved in the upkeep of buildings, grounds, and related structures, equipment, and utilities.

Duties

Perform construction, maintenance, and repair of building facilities, such as repair and modification of metal and wood structures, building frames, walls, stairs, door and window frames, exterior trim, etc. Perform necessary repairs, alterations, installations, and preventive maintenance for the operation and upkeep of buildings, utilities, and equipment. Maintain and repair building equipment and materials in various trades such as Electrical, Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, Sheet Metal, and Painting. Independently plan work, determine tools and materials required, make material and equipment substitutions, and completes tasks. Operate a motor vehicle for movement of people, materials, and equipment.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
• This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
• This position may require the incumbent to work on any day or shift, including PMs, nights, weekends, holidays, or on an "on call" basis, necessary to meet mission requirements.
• This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
• This position may require incumbent to occasionally travel away from duty location.
• This position requires incumbent to possess and maintain a valid state driver's license to operate government vehicles.
• This position requires heavy lifting of up to 50 pounds.

Uses hand trucks and dollies to move heavier equipment. Works in kneeling, crouching and stooping positions from ladders and scaffolds as necessary. Working Conditions: Works from ladders and scaffold as much as 20 feet high. Works with electric saws, electric grinders, and low voltage equipment. There is little danger of serious injury if proper tools and safety precautions are observed. About 90% of work is inside in well-lighted and ventilated areas. Occasionally, work will be in building areas with poor ventilation and lighting.
