Duties

You will measure, cut and install materials to the required lengths and dimensions. You will repair and install rafters, studs, sills, plates, braces, joists, floors, sheetrock, plywood, siding, sheathing, roofing, building paper, and insulating materials. You will perform minor construction and repair on existing structures involving standard measurements, specifications, instructions and basic shop mathematics. You will use and maintain power and hand tools such as hammers, hand saws, drills, planes, routers, power nailers, etc. You will make repairs by removing, cleaning, replacing, packing and sealing defective parts of utility, supply and disposal systems such as dirty traps, sections of broken tile pipe, and leaky drains. You will be required to hook up water heaters, disposal units, and faucets.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid state driver’s license.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • You will be required to furnish normal tools of the trade used on a day to day basis.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision: Determining tools and equipment needed for structural maintenance and plumbing repairs; AND measuring, cutting, and installing materials to specifications.
