The primary purpose of this position, IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK SERVICES/CUSTOMER SUPPORT), NH-2210-03 is to provide innovative cyber capability to enable and enhance Team Hill's missions through secure, reliable, and cost effective services.
Duties
Administer the base local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN).
Monitor, test, analyze, maintain, and operate multiple operating systems based network platforms.
Determine customer requirements and assist customers by recognizing and analyzing trends and providing instruction and orientation services. Identifies and documents network
Provides customer technical assistance and support.
Conduct feasibility studies to identify and analyze network failures and analyze data to determine if trends exist which forecast the need for future replacement or modification of network hardware and software.

Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-2210, Information Technology (IT) Management Series, 2210 (Alternative A)Series. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level close to the work of this position that has given you the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform. Typically, we would find this experience in work within a field that is closely related. To be creditable, the specialized experience must have been equivalent to the next lower grade level (NH-02), pay band or equivalent. Specialized experience which is equivalent to Federal experience at the next lower grade (GS-11), level, pay band (NH-02), or equivalent (pay schedule, pay band, etc). An example of creditable specialized experience is described as: assisted with administering local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) which involved monitoring, testing, analyzing, maintaining and operating multiple system based network platforms; review customer requirements and assists customers by recognizing and analyzing trends and providing instruction and orientation services; provide technical assistance and support; perform or assist with feasibility studies to identify and analyze network failures and analyze data to determine if trends exist which forecast the need for future replacement or modification of network hardware and software.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
KSA
Knowledge of a full range of network systems (LAN/WAN) design principles, methodologies, and approaches used in developing, testing, installing, operating, managing, and maintaining network services that support functional requirements.
Knowledge of the network architecture, topology, and protocols typically found at base and lower-level organizations.
Knowledge of configuration management concepts and practices to develop and implement plans for LANs and WANs.
Knowledge of customer support principles sufficient to receive, respond to, and ensure complete resolution of problems.
Knowledge of network customer use and systems maintenance sufficient to give needed guidance or training to customers and workgroup managers to prevent problem recurrences.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
