This position is located with the General Services Branch, Property and Supply Section at the Gallup Indian Medical Center in Gallup, NM. The primary purpose of the position is responsible for the Supply Management program working in collaboration with the Medical Supply Management Program (C-Locker) staff, Lead Materials Handler and Materials Handler's in order to effectively manage the overall supply management program for the hospital.

Duties

Responsible for coordinating the supply management program functions associated with the planning, design, and layout of supply operations for the Service Unit. Responsible for the medical gases; establishing and maintaining files on warehouse stock; supply issuance and routine or special supply reports and the safety program for General Services Branch. Plans and coordinates supply requirements with various departments and the Medical Supply Management Program. Reviews and edits Issue books for appropriateness of stock items including all off-schedule requisitions. Instructs Material Handlers on warehouse operations and assures proper receipt, warehousing and rotation of supplies received for the Service Unit; notes shortages, overages, damages or discrepancies. Works and communicates with Purchasing Agents, Inventory Management Specialist, Supply Technicians, Finance and Administrative staff on a regular basis on matters related to assigned area of responsibility.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-7: Applicant must successfully complete (1) one full year of graduate level education -or- superior academic achievement. -OR- Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: providing guidance to a medical team on how to operate Point of Use or Supply Systems; providing recommendations for improvements regarding stock and inventory procedures; and diagnosing supply system malfunctions. GS-9: Applicant must successfully complete a master's or equivalent graduate degree -or- 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree -or- LL.B. or J.D., if related. -OR- Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: assisting in identifying point-of-use or supply malfunctions; maintaining supply records; and monitoring inventory; procurement of, or distribution of supplies. NOTE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels for which both education and experience are acceptable. Graduate Education: Education at the graduate level in an accredited college or university in the amounts shown in the table meets the requirements for positions at GS-7 through GS-11. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
