Duties
If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing a variety of administrative support services to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Central District of California. Typical work assignments will include:
Analyzing support services process and procedures for the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Ensuring procedures actions are implemented in accordance with applicable law.
Making purchases within delegated monetary authority.
Maintaining records.
Receiving and distributing mail and packages.
Preparing a variety of reports.
Participating in property and equipment inventories.
Performing minor maintenance duties and overseeing building facility related projects.
Projecting and analyzing space and office furnishing needs.
Operating warehouse storage and material handling equipment.
Determining, distributing, and maintaining appropriate stock levels.
Driving to and from branch offices and warehouse (Must have a current valid driver's license).
This position requires the ability to perform work requiring physical exertion such as bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities and recurring lifting and moving of moderately heavy items such as boxes of paper, supplies, equipment, tables, chairs, and record boxes weighing up to 100 pounds
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
- You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
- If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
- Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
- You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position.
Qualifications
GS-5: To be eligible at the GS-5 level, you must meet at least one of the following conditions, as defined below: Specialized Experience, Education, or a combination of Education and Experience.
Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level in Federal service. Specialized Experience is defined as experience performing the following types of duties: gathering data, meeting internal and external customer needs, coordinating meetings, establishing and maintaining an efficient filling system and using computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.) tp generate a variety of reports.
Education: Possess a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree or 4 years above high school education leading to such a degree. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to to the work.
Combining Education and Experience: Successfully completed post-high school education may be used to meet the total one year of specialized experience requirements equivalent to the GS-4 level grade. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.
Education
All academic degrees and coursework must be completed at a college or university that has obtained accreditation or pre-accreditation status from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a list of schools that meet this criteria, see

Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the above education requirements if you can show that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.
