The division exists to protect the lives, safety, environment, and property of all persons in the community and surrounding areas; to educate, inform, and enforce life safety. The position is included under the provisions of Special Retirement Coverage (SRC) and may have both a maximum entry age and a mandatory retirement date.
Duties
Ability to apply practices associated with fire engineering, testing and modeling of material, life safety, building codes and standards.
Fosters and ensures an environment that administers all resources such as policies and procedures in a manner that instills public trust while accomplishing the organizations mission.
Helps others learn through formal or informal methods; identifies training needs; provides constructive feedback; coaches others on how to perform tasks; acts as a mentor.
Executes administrative and personnel management functions related to the accomplishment of the assigned missions.
Make well-informed, and objective decisions to accomplish organizational goals.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of pre-employment and periodic subsequent medical examination in accordance with DoDM 6055.06 to ensure continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
- This position requires the incumbent to wear the prescribed uniform and/or personal protective equipment while on duty.
- Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime. This position performs, as required, mutual aid support to local fire departments.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- This position has a mandatory Hepatitis B immunization requirement. A candidate tentatively selected for appointment to this position will be
required to sign a statement consenting to Hepatitis B immunization.
- Employees assigned are required to be screened for applicable immunizations based on occupational risk. This position is subject to screening
and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons.
- This position requires participation in the Division Wellness Program.
- Normal tour of duty is sixty (60) hours per week and (1) twenty-four hour shift weekly.
- You may be required to travel occasionally for this position.
- This position is subject to recall after normal tour in cases of emergencies, to maintain staffing or in the interest of the government.
- This position requires you to obtain/maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

Specialized Experience: One year of 1) developing programs and policies for fire protection and prevention management programs such as inspections, training, hazardous material handling, etc.; 2)Developing and implementing a training program for firefighting training activities such as, emergency medical response, hazardous material response, and fire suppression; 3) Overseeing /develop policies and direct firefighting and fire prevention activities of firefighting crews; and 4) serving as a technical advisor to all Directorates and activities.
