Duties
Provide direct first line supervision and management to personnel engaged in Fire Prevention Inspection duties.
Ensure the proper execution of administration and personnel management responsibilities related to the accomplishment of the assigned mission.
Prepare facilities inspection and testing inspection schedules for all buildings, facilities, fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, hydrants,
water systems, detector systems and extinguishing systems that are tested by fire department personnel.
Ensure coordination of established programs with designated building/facility representatives or fire marshals
Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, difficulty of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.
Review all construction plans for new, modifications and self-help projects.
Provide technical oversight.
Make decisions on work presented by subordinates and establishes priorities and schedules.
Plan and assigns work to be accomplished.
Assist in developing and establishing policy for the fire prevention program to include the scope of training, frequency of inspection.
Develop, acquire, and allocate resources to accomplish mission goals and strategic objectives.
Requirements
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position requires you to meet physical fitness requirements as directed by current regulatory guidance.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- Tour of duty will be 60 hours with at least (1) 24-hour shift weekly
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter.
- This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
- This position requires heavy physical effort in the frequent handling of objects such as hoses, cylinders, and extinguishers weighing 45 lbs. or more.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- This position has a mandatory Hepatitis B immunization requirement.
- This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons in accordance with Army Regulation 40-562, Chapters 3 and 4.
- Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
- This position requires you to obtain and maintain a valid Emergency Operators certification within 12 months of employment.
- This position requires participation in the Division Wellness Program.
- This position requires a one-year supervisory probationary period.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience performing inspections in areas such as warehouses, shops, hospitals, offices, and living quarters for violation of fire codes and regulations. Reviewing project construction plans to ensure fire protection engineering features have been incorporated on all new projects, alterations, and additions. Inspecting new construction for inclusion of appropriate fire protection materials and equipment. Conducts inspection and testing of installed fire detection and suppression systems. Interprets and applies codes, regulations, directives, and instructions and applies the standards and regulations during inspections. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
