You will serve as a LEAD EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST in the NUCLEAR MATERIAL SUPPORT BRANCH, NUCLEAR MATERIAL DIVISION of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will interface with the Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department to search out sources of indirect or obscure information and to facilitate development of estimates and plans for highly complex projects.
You will manage and coordinate the timely identification, ordering, and successful acquisition of shop work related materials and services.
You will as work leader be responsible for nuclear material availability in support of ship maintenance and overhaul material requirements for the Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department.
You will identify and coordinate resolution of deficiencies in the material planning and ordering process.
You will ensure resources are focused on the priorities required to meet shipyard schedules and commitments leading to quality project accomplishment of ship delivery to fleet customers.

- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience utilizing knowledge of naval ship overhaul processes including production, planning, logistics methods, supply, and scheduling in order to manage resources within cost and schedule budgets.
Experience resourcing personnel, tracking of costs, and providing liaison to the project management as well as waterfront project personnel to include external supporting agencies and vendors.
Experience generating, collecting, analyzing, evaluating, and interpreting the full range of logistical data (e.g. maintenance schedules, supply chains, logistics issues and alternatives) in order to extract appropriate information to develop informed decisions and recommendations.
Experience identifying and coordinating all efforts to resolve material issues and ensures that material and services ordered meet stringent quality requirements.
Experience establishing schedules, plans, and work assignments to be accomplished as well as setting priorities, preparing schedules, and setting performance standards.
