Duties

WHAT IS THE TAXPAYER SERVICESDIVISION? A description of the business units can be found at: https://www.jobs.irs.gov/about/who/business-divisions Vacancies will be filled in the following specialty areas: Taxpayer Services Customer Assistance, Relationship and Education, Field Assistance Area 4 The following are the duties of this position at the full working level. Identifies potential and actual problems, probable causes, and provides recommendations for resolution. Researches a variety of issues, gathers statistics and information, and reports findings for the full scope of a program or function. Monitors, reviews, and evaluates operations and interrelationships with other functions regarding workflow, work redundancy, or systemic problems and provides recommendations to higher levels analyst(s) or supervisor. Verifies completeness of controls to ensure accuracy and compliance with established procedures, guidelines, and formats. Revises procedures, guidelines, and controls as a result of changes in higher level procedures or as instructed by analyst(s) or comparable positions. Uses database or spreadsheet software to prepare a variety of documents and to enter, revise, manipulate, sort, calculate, store, and retrieve data. A qualified typist is required. This position has career progression. If you are selected at a grade level lower than the full working level, you may be non-competitively promoted as your career progresses. For example, you may be hired as a GS-05, but if the position has career progression to GS-11, then you may move from a GS-05 to a GS-11 in as little as three years.

Qualifications

Federal experience is not required. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-timework is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week, on your resume. You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR GS-06: You must have at least one year (12 months) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that is in or related to this position and provided you with the competencies to perform successfully the duties of this position. Examples of qualifying experience may have been gained by performing clerical and technical work in support of management and/or program analysis functions which may have included identifying potential and actual problems and/or probable causes; researching specific issues; gathering pertinent statistics or information; monitoring, reviewing, or evaluating operations and interrelationships with other functions in regard to workflow, work redundancy, or systemic problems; revising procedures, controls, etc; and preparing memoranda, preliminary reports, and charts showing recommendations or findings. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR GS-07: You must have at least one year (12 months) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that is in or related to this position and provided you with the competencies to perform successfully the duties of this position. Examples of qualifying experience may have been gained by performing technical work in support of management and/or program analysis functions which may have included identifying potential and actual problems and probable causes; researching specific issues; gathering pertinent statistics or information, reporting findings and recommending corrective action for the full scope of a program or function; monitoring, reviewing, and evaluating operations and interrelationships with other functions regarding workflow, work redundancy, or systemic problems; and utilizing database or spreadsheet software to enter, revise, manipulate, sort, calculate, store and retrieve data for use by others. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
