This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Direct Hire Authority DIB & MRTFB to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

Distribute and balance workload among employees and monitor work in progress. Perform inspections on all buildings and grounds for existing or potential fire hazardous conditions and violation of fire codes and regulations. Review project construction plans to ensure fire protection engineering features have been incorporated on all new projects, alterations, and additions. Inspect new construction for inclusion of appropriate fire protection materials and equipment. Conduct fire prevention classes in firefighting, fire prevention, and fire inspections.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires Department of Defense, IFSAC, or Pro Board professional certifications. Please see the Conditions of Employment in the Announcement Questionnaire for a list of required certifications.
  • This position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening and random testing.
  • This position requires you to possess and maintain a valid stateside driver's license.
  • This position requires a 60 hour a week (120 hours pay period) tour of duty which includes at least one 24-hour shift and may include working nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • This position requires you to wear a uniform and/or wear personal protective equipment as appropriate and complies with safety and health directives (OSHA).
  • This position requires you to work both inside and outside with possibility exposure to inclement weather.
  • This position requires a pre-employment physical fitness assessment and continued participation in a scheduled physical fitness program as directed by current Army regulatory guidance.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • This position requires you to conform to the requirements set-forth in the National Fire Protection Association 1500, Fire Department Occupational Health and Safety Program.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.

Qualifications

About the Position: The Joint Munitions Command provides the Joint Force with ready, reliable, lethal munitions at the speed of war. JMC's mission is to support the production, storage, distribution, and demilitarization of munitions. This position serves as a Supply Technician located at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant, which is a subordinate installation of JMC. Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Experience performing firefighting activities such as responding to fires and medical emergencies, performing fire protection and safety inspections, hazardous material containment and control, and/or station maintenance work Experience conducting inspections of facilities and/or buildings, alarm detection, and suppression systems; and/or Experience with hazardous material responses. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. You must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone for this position; substitution of education for experience is not permitted. Selective Placement Factor: This position has selective placement factor which must be met prior to employment and for continued employment. Your answers to the questions in this section will indicate your understanding of, or possession of, these requirements. Maximum Entry Age (MEA) The MEA for Firefighters is 37. Applicants not appointed by the last day of the month in which that individual reaches their 37th birthday shall not be appointed or assigned to these positions. The MEA for Firefighters is 37. Maximum Re-entry Age: An employee who previously served on a covered position may be rehired past the MEA as long as he/she is able to complete 20 years of covered service by his/her mandatory retirement age. The maximum re-entry age for the individual is calculated by determining the total amount of time he/she has served on a covered position and subtracting that from age 57, if a firefighter. The employee's current age is compared to the calculated maximum re-entry age to determine if he/she can be rehired into the covered position. Waivers to Maximum Entry Age: MEA may be waived, but only under specific circumstances and only if approved by the authorized entity: Waivers to MEA for firefighters must be approved by local Command.
