ARMY TECHNICIAN VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Duty Location: Maneuver Area Training Equipment Site (MATES), Camp Santiago Joint Training Center (CSJTC), Salinas, PR

Requirements
- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Continued employment in this position is contingent upon satisfactory completion of the mandatory training specifically identified for the position.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Excepted Civil Service Technicians are required to maintain a MOS and military grade that is determined by the NGB to be compatible with the assigned technician position.
- Loss of military membership will result in immediate loss of your full-time military technician position.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the Government Travel Credit Card (GTC) as a condition of employment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate SECRET security clearance for the position within one year of appointment.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
- Must possess a valid PR State driver’s license to operate government motor vehicle in accordance with Service specific Vehicle Operations Directives.
- Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
Qualifications
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
This position requires military membership in the Puerto Rico Army National Guard (PRARNG). If you are not a military member of the PRARNG (i.e., Airman, civilian, active-duty Soldier, prior service, guard member from another state, reservist, IRR, State Guard, etc.), you must contact the Recruiting and Retention (R&R) Office at (787) 289-1400 extension 2015 or 2008 and request the PRARNG Military Basic Requirements (MBR) Certification. If the MBR certification is not submitted, or you do not meet the requirements to be a member of the PRARNG, your application will not be screened.
AREA OF CONSIDERATION:

Area 1 = All permanent Warrant Officers and Enlisted members employee (NG T32/NG T5) within Puerto Rico Army National Guard.

Area 3 = Warrant Officers and Enlisted currently serving members of the Puerto Rico Army National Guard.
Area 4 = Warrant Officers and Enlisted Prior (former) members of the Puerto Rico Army National Guard.

DUTIES:
As a ELECTRONICS EQUIPMENT REPAIR INSPECTOR (D1207000),WU-2604-12, you will inspect the repair of electronics equipment to ensure that physical and operating characteristics are within acceptable standards and specifications.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work assignments require employees to frequently lift and carry, unassisted, items weighing up to 40 pounds. Sometimes required to lift and carry items weighing more than 40 pounds with the help of material handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. The work requires frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, stooping, and working in inverted positions. Climbing and working in high places may be required. Some work may require the aid of magnifying lenses, eye loops, and microscopes to accomplish repairs on miniature components.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed both inside and outside. When inside, incumbent is frequently exposed to drafts, heat, changing temperatures, and noise. When outside, may sometimes work in adverse weather, in mud or snow, and in wet or icy areas. Both inside and outside, the incumbent is frequently exposed to irritation or discomfort from dust, heat, fumes, and hard damp floors or ground. Typically works on components and systems, which are dirty, oily, or greasy. Incumbent is frequently exposed to the possibility of receiving cuts, burns or bruises, electrical shock and sprains while repairing, positioning, moving equipment. Is often exposed to the possibility of receiving burns and skin irritations from acid, fluids, solder, and lubricants. May use safety equipment for extended periods such as protective ear devices, eye protection, hard hats, hard-toe shoes, respirators, and protective clothing.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
Experience or training which demonstrates the applicant's knowledge of electrical or electronic theory, knowledge of common testing procedures, skill in the use of hand tools of the electronics trade, and skill in reading schematics.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Applicant must possess at least ONE (1) year occupational series code 2604 or the equivalent EIGHTEEN (18) months of specialized experienceperforming or supervising duties such as inspecting the repair of electronics equipment and ensuring that physical and operating characteristics are within acceptable standards and specifications; performing required maintenance to restore to a serviceable condition various types of tactical equipment; diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems; using complex test equipment such as deviation meters, complex special test panels and interpreting technical manuals, specifications, and publications; performing final inspection, certifying that equipment is in satisfactory operating condition, or rejects the work and returns the equipment to the repair shop; utilizing established Maintenance Expenditure Limits (MEL) to evaluate economic feasibility of repair(s); preparing lists of needed repairs, parts, and man-hours authorized; serving as inspector on Command Maintenance Evaluation Teams (COMET) and/or as a member of Maintenance Assistance and Instruction Teams (MAIT).
