You will serve as a MUSEUM CURATOR in the Operations and Training Department )G-3), Museum Division of MCRD ERR PI SC.

Duties

You will be responsible for the overall design of gallery exhibits, which incorporates intellectual, accessibility, and safety requirements. You will conduct research to support growth of the museum’s collection, curation of artifacts, the design and development of exhibits, and the delivery of lectures and presentations. You will synthesize the museum’s program and education goals and visitor needs into concepts and continue to refine the designs through the fabrication stage. You will oversee the management of museum collections. You will lead and manage long-range, strategic planning for museum development.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a favorable suitability on a Federal background check.
  • The incumbent is subject to 24-hour recall to perform emergency response duties for, or during actual emergency operations.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-07) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:Responsible for the day-to-day execution and development of long-range museum programs, development of over-all exhibit plans, exhibit designs and installations, time schedules and budgets, and museum administration. Education

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess
  1. Degree: museum work; or in an applicable subject-matter field.

    OR

  2. Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

    OR

  3. Four years of experience that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study as shown in A above.
Applicants can qualify for this position through education substitution. To qualify for this position through education substitution, applicant must possess:

Have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree in museum work or in an applicable subject-matter field.
OR
Have successfully completed two full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a master's degree in museum work or in an applicable subject-matter field.
OR
Have a combination of education and experience as described above that are equivalent to a major in museum work or in an applicable subject-matter field plus appropriate experience or additional education. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
