Duties

You will manage the museum's collection, track all conservation/preservation projects to ensure that the plan is followed or adjusted as required. You will be responsible for the overall design and installation of gallery exhibits and the delivery of lectures and presentations. You will synthesize research, the museum's program and education goals, and visitors needs into a full range of exhibit concepts. You will accomplish work in various ways, including independently, and as a team lead or member. You will lead and manage annual and long-range, budgeting and strategic planning for museum development.

Requirements

  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Tracking conservation/preservation projects; AND ensuring artifacts are stored and exhibited correctly. Education

Applicants must meet the following basic requirements for this position as established in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess.
  1. Degree: museum work; or in an applicable subject-matter field.

    OR

  2. Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

    OR

  3. Four years of experience that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study as shown in A above.
Applicants can qualify for this position through education substitution. To qualify for this position through education substitution, applicant must possess:

3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree

or

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
