Duties

Serves as the functional point of contact for day-to-day budget/financial issues. Performs budget formulation work involving review and preparation of budget estimates and financial plans. Performs budget execution and administration work involving the monitoring of obligations incurred and the actual expenditures of funds. Provides advice, assistance, and guidance on budgeting and related information and conducts analyses, reviews and special studies of budget and/or related information. Uses budgetary and other automated system(s) and computer-generated products in accomplishing budgeting/funding assignments. Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • This position is INDEFINITE NTE 24 months, with possible extension up to 60 months, and permanent potential.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.

Qualifications

MILITARY GRADES: E5 through E9, or O1 through O2 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience in applying problem solving techniques; and skills in communicating effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to plan and organize work. Competencies in analysis, research, writing, and judgment typically gained through college education or progressively responsible experiences. Ability to follow established methods and procedures; use practical knowledge of the operations, procedures, and policies of specific program areas or functional assignment. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1-year specialized experience, education, or training equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Must have experience, education, or training of finance budget competencies that provided knowledge of financial principles and procedures. Candidate must have a good understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the National Guard financial budget business program requirements. A candidate must have experiences and training that demonstrate the abilities to follow directions, to read, retain, and understand a variety of instructions, regulations, policies, and procedures. Education

You may combine education with specialized experience to meet the length of experience requirement for GS-09. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
