Duties

You will update antiquated and out-of-date equipment and ensures water production meets existing Federal and State water quality regulations. You will plan maintenance and repair functions with contractors and other branches within the Public Works Department. You will observe work in progress to anticipate and resolve problems; reassign personnel and coordinate work among the workforce, contractors and with other supervisors to maintain progress and to meet schedules. You will determine the number and types of workers needed to accomplish specific projects; redirect individual workers and resources to accomplish unanticipated work. You will determine training needs and arrange for accomplishment of training; set performance standards and make formal appraisal of subordinates.

Requirements

  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • You are required to possess and maintain a current Class “A” Water Plant Operator certification. At least one of the following certifications by the State of North Carolina in accordance with State and Federal regulatory requirements. Continued Below
  • 1) Wastewater Collection II; 2) Physical Chemical Wastewater I; 3) A-Distribution 4) Cross Connection ORC.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • During destructive weather conditions such as; but not limited to, ice and snowstorms, high winds and hurricanes, maybe required to report for duty. Subject to call back for work during off-duty hours when emergency arises.
