Duties

You will inspect, test, perform preventative maintenance, make repairs, modify, install, and maintain sprinkler systems, CO2 systems, and related units, pumps, and equipment to ensure proper fire protection. You will read and interpret a variety of items that will include blueprints and drawings, various manuals and specifications relating to sprinkler systems, and fire code directives. You will test sprinkler system water flow, tamper switches, and system alarms to confirm operational readiness. You will inspect, test, and perform preventive maintenance of fire suppression systems. You will compose records and reports of all inspections, tests, and work accomplished to the systems. You will train lower graded employees in repair phases of the sprinkler systems.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license and maintain on-base driving privileges once obtained.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
