The primary purpose of this position is to operate a variety of gasoline, diesel or electric powered wheeled vehicles typically with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of more than 10,000 and up to 33,000 pounds.

Duties

- Drives one or more types of medium trucks and special purpose vehicles. - Performs operator maintenance. Maintains records and documents actions. - Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment. Performs general snow removal policing of fleet services area, such as snow blowing, shoveling, salting, etc, IAW local snow removal guidelines. - Performs fleet servicing on AMC and non-AMC aircraft. Inventories and receipts for all nonexpendable fleet service equipment aboard inbound aircraft. - Transports, cleans, stores and performs minor maintenance of Fleet Service/aircraft equipment. Performs dispatcher duties.

Requirements

  • This position is designated as a key position IAW AFI 36-507. Duties of this position are essential to the accomplishment of wartime/contingency operations.
  • Incumbents of key positions must be removed from their military recall status if alternative for filling of the position during an emergency are not available.
  • This is a Mission Essential (ME) position performing a Mission Critical Function (MCF) which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.

  • Must obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5700 Transportation/Mobile Equipment Operation Group. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is ability to do the work of a MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR without more than normal supervision. JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of and skill in operating one or more gasoline, diesel or electric powered wheeled vehicles with a GVW of more than 10,000 and up to 33,000 pounds (+/-based on applicable vehicle/equipment Technical Order) such as platform trucks, van trucks, stake trucks, latrine servicing trucks, 25K/NGSL loaders, 250 gallon water trucks, 3 ton hi-lift trucks, l0K/l0K AT forklifts, passenger vans, shuttle buses and cargo vans. 2. Knowledge of cargo handling, hauling and techniques for safeguarding and protecting cargo/equipment and interpret technical orders and regulation. 3. Knowledge of traffic and safety regulations, practices and procedures pertaining to motor vehicle and forklift operation. Knowledge of passenger safety rules including those regarding the use of seatbelts. 4. Ability to judge road/traffic conditions and read maps to determine the shortest safest route. Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. related to motor vehicle and forklift operation and preventative maintenance. 5. Reliability and dependability to meet pickup and delivery deadlines and schedules. Knowledge of basic rules of sanitation and the ability to use cleaning products such as detergents, soaps, sanitizers, air fresheners, etc. and the ability to follow directions provided by various product manufacturers. 6. Knowledge of and skill in operating one or more electric, LPG, or diesel-powered forklifts typically, capable of lifting less than 10,000 pounds as high as 168 inches; ability to judge aisles, doorways, loads and load balance, and operate controls to maneuver forklift trucks. Skill in remote terminal keyboard entry and retrieval of a variety of flight/mission data. Physical Effort: Work requires reaching, turning or moving hands, arms, feet and legs to operate hand and foot controls to operate, tum, back and control vehicles which may carry heavier loads. Associated duties require stooping, bending and climbing. Lifts and carries objects weighing up to 40 pounds and heavier object with assistance. Ability to distinguish basic colors. Hearing, with or without hearing aides, is required. Working Conditions: Drives work mostly outside and operate vehicles in all kinds of traffic and weather on public roads (or equivalent) and are exposed to the danger of serious accidents. Drivers are exposed to dirt, fumes and to the possibility of cuts, bruises and broken bones as a result of accidents when loading and unloading the vehicle and/or servicing aircraft. Exposed to heat/cold, humid/dry conditions. Works on ladders/scaffolding. Works closely with others and works alone. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
