The Employee Relations Manager performs complex administrative and professional work in the development and execution of employee relations and performance management strategies that support the human resources strategic plan and accomplishment of aligned projects, goals and operational objectives.  Provides leadership and support in policy management and development. Supervises the Performance Management and Employee Relations and team.

The Employee Relations Manager duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Background and security investigation are required.
  • A probationary period of one (1) year must be successfully completed.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in human resource management, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field; plus six (6) years of experience in human resources of which at least three (3) years of experience must be in employee relations and a minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience. The successful candidate must possess: Strong verbal and written communication skills, and be a subject matter expert in employee relations, performance management, metrics, and data analytics. Experience providing guidance recommending courses of action for resolutions to grievances, conflicts, and complaints.  Experience advising management on dealing with complex and sensitive conduct issues and directly advising managers or supervisors on preparing disciplinary and adverse actions. Experience with performance management programs including facilitating training, goal setting, and utilizing core competencies. Experience with policy development and implementation.  An advanced degree and experience as a Human Resources Generalist is preferred.       Graduation from the Courts’ Management Training Program may substitute for one (1) year of supervisory experience (You must provide documentation of your management training (i.e. copy of certificate) with your application The incumbent should be an enthusiastic and engaged professional who enjoys working with a diverse group of Court personnel and customers and lives the DC Courts’ values of Accountability, Excellence, Fairness, Integrity, Respect, and Transparency.*Documentation of education must be submitted with your application, or your application will not be considered. *Applicants please be advised that your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience and that you meet the basic qualifications, or you will not be determined qualified for this position.Please note that authorization for the release of your adult criminal record revealing any convictions and forfeitures, and any criminal cases currently pending before the courts are required.  If you are selected for the position, a criminal history records check will be conducted.
