This position serves as the Information Technology Specialist for the Information Technology Department of the Pine Ridge Service Unit in Pine Ridge, SD. The incumbent supports the medical and administrative data networks and telecommunications infrastructure. The position reports to the Supervisory IT Specialist.

Duties

Maintains Windows Server(S), Unix Server(s) and Personal Computer (PC) systems; plans for the implementation of Automated Data Processing (ADP) Systems Analyzes equipment inventory to determine the equipment level (quantity and quality) that is needed to support the service unit Maintains the voice and data communications network; Installs new telecommunications and voice technology when required Manages the service unit's current LAN/WAN technology to ensure that adequate connection to the Area telecommunications equipment and voice technology Reports potential major problems in areas of hardware, software, or procurement and installations, and outlines possible alternatives

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Eligibility is allowed through meeting either the requirements specified in the section titled Education or the requirements specified in the section titled Experience. Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management OR doctoral degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks. NOTE: All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions. OR Experience: For all GS-2210 positions, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Providing maintenance of electronic health record systems, email system, and Personal Computer (PC) systems; providing troubleshooting for physical Servers, Virtual servers, and Webservers; maintaining voice and data communications network via Cisco Call Manager; troubleshooting networks, VLAN's, Cisco products; working with Windows Server 2016 or Server 2022 environment, VMware environment, Nutanix environment, or Hyper-V; analyzing operating systems and identifying complex issues to troubleshoot and resolve a problem or system crash; reviewing procedures, policies, and manuals; coordinating and implementing IT projects; managing multiple projects, prioritizing work, meeting deadlines. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
