This position serves as the Supervisor of the Information Technology Department of the Pine Ridge Service Unit located in Pine Ridge, SD. The incumbent is responsible for planning work to be accomplished by subordinates and the installation, daily operation, maintenance and problem resolution for multi-user and personal computer systems of the Service Unit. The position reports to the Deputy Health System Administrator.
Duties
Supervises and plans work based on priorities and evaluates work performance.
Implements and supports multi-service software packages that automate the capture of clinical encounter information.
Consults with users, management, vendors and technicians to assess computing needs and system requirements.
Participates in the preparation of contract specifications for the purchase of hardware, software and service agreements.
Monitors the telecommunication component and resets controls for teleprocessing connections.
Coordinates the preparation and distribution of instructional materials related to systems.
Provides training on new or modified data entry procedures of software.
Qualifications

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Apply extensive knowledge of systems analysis methodologies and data processing concepts, management principles, statistical methods, and public health programs as it relates to information technology; serve as a consultant regarding the analysis, design, development and implementation of information systems; and motivate and work effectively with team members in meeting goals and deadlines.
Your specialized experience must be IT related; your experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
