This National Guard Title 5 Excepted Service position is for an INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST, Position Description Number NGT5003000 and is part of the 114 FW in Sioux Falls, SD.

Duties
As an INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST, GS-0080-12, you will:
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Wing Chief of Information Protection at Air National Guard facilities. Accountable for achieving program goals and objectives across multiple functions and disciplines and providing a focused, seamless, and supportive environment for protecting information in order to conduct effective air, space and cyberspace operations. Chairs the Wing Security Advisory Group (WSAG) or facsimile and directs activities of its diverse membership to develop risk assessments and analyses. Advises the Commander on risk assessments and recommends risk avoidance/mitigation.
Requirements
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- The incumbent of this position description must have, at a minimum, a completed National Agency Check (NAC) prior to position assignment.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- The employee is required to maintain a Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
- Irregular and overtime hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies.
- The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial vehicles to perform temporary duty assignments.
- The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle and if so, an appropriate valid driver’s license is required.
- This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration.
- Essential Personnel: This designation will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by the TAG.
- This position has been identified as a designated position under the Air Force Drug Testing Plan. Incumbent(s) of this position is subject to the possibility of a random drug test.
- Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification, Special Program Security Certification and Security Asset Protection Professional Certification conferrals are required within 2 years of the established employee EOD.
Qualifications
Specialized Experience: 1 year equivalent to at least GS-11. Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.

Knowledge of a wide range of security concepts, principles, and practices to review, independently analyze, and resolve difficult and complex security problems; apply policy direction to contractors and government/military officials, and develop guidance for applying security policy, procedures, techniques, equipment, and methods to a variety of work situations and various levels or degrees of security controls.
Knowledge of a broad range of security program relationships, and proficiency in information, personnel, and industrial security to effectively implement and administer applicable security programs and/or coordinate with other specialized security programs.
Knowledge of security classification methods, concepts, and eligibility for access to classified or sensitive information to review plans for proposed or new projects, organizations, and/or missions to assure the presence of adequate planning for information security and other controls.
Ability to plan and carry out reviews of unit and/or contractor security programs, analyze and evaluate reports and conditions to recommend remedial actions.
