Duties
As a SECURITY SPECIALIST, GS-0080-11, you will:
This position is located in Advanced Programs Office (APO), Special Access Program (SAP)Branch of an Air National Guard (ANG) Wing supporting fighter or bomber aircraft. The purpose of this position is to serve as a security specialist and security advisor, providing oversight and management of multiple security disciplines (information, personnel, industrial, physical, computer, operations and communications security) in support of special access programs (SAPs). To provide specialized security policy and support for Special Access Programs to ensure the mission is not compromised; provide an effective security program to insure that information and material affecting national defense are protected from unauthorized disclosure, espionage and sabotage; ensuring granted individuals access to program information is clearly consistent with the interest of national security and defense.
Requirements
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- The incumbent of this position description must have, at a minimum, a completed National Agency Check (NAC) prior to position assignment.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- The employee is required to maintain a Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
- Irregular and overtime hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies.
- The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial vehicles to perform temporary duty assignments.
- The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle and if so, an appropriate valid driver’s license is required.
- This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration.
- Essential Personnel: This designation will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by the TAG.
- Employee may be required to take a random counter-intelligence polygraph and submit to background checks as a condition of employment and/or continued access to the SAP.
- This position has been identified as a designated position under the Air Force Drug Testing Plan. Incumbent(s) of this position is subject to the possibility of a random drug test.
- This position is a designated national security position.
- Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification, Special Program Security Certification and Security Asset Protection Professional Certification conferrals are required within 2 years of the established employee EOD.
Qualifications
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-9 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Experience in the competencies/KSAs listed below. (Experience must be documented in your resume) OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree related to the position.( Transcript must be attached if using education) OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education.
Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities (KSAs): Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a separate sheet(s) addressing the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) and how they relate to work experience, education or training.
Knowledge of the Special Access Program (SAP) information security program.
Skill in researching, interpreting, analyzing, and applying security guidelines from various sources for local application.
Knowledge of procedures for document marking, safeguarding, and use, personnel access controls, need to know criteria, physical storage, and control, and transmitting, transferring, reproducing, downgrading, and destroying information.
Skill in ensuring requests for program access are properly screened and verified, and that all necessary forms and documentation have been completed before processing for access.
Knowledge of DoD, USAF, Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), and MAJCOM policies and directives for the construction, protection, and operation of all advanced programs facilities.
