As a supervisor/manager, the selectee for this position will be eligible to receive a Manager Performance Incentive (MPI) provided eligibility requirements noted in agency policy are met. The MPI is an annual lump-sum incentive payment that considers agency performance, the manager's individual performance, and available funding.Serves as a Front Line Manager (Operations Supervisor).
Duties
Serves as Front Line Manager in a Flight Service Station facility. Responsible for planning and directing operations within delegated areas of responsibility, some of which may be remotely located and require travel. Provides first-line supervision to a team of Air Traffic Control Specialists (ATCS). Plans and assigns work to be accomplished by subordinate employees and sets work priorities and schedules. Acts as the approving authority for leave. Gives direction and instruction to employees on both technical and administrative matters. Provides training, coaching, and guidance to subordinates and facilitates team building. Continuously reviews work processes to assure results that meet the agency's mission and the customers needs. Serves as a member of the management team to ensure organizational performance meets strategic goals. When assigned, serves as Watch Supervisor and assumes overall management and supervision of the operations area. Performs staff support functions as assigned.

- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

- A 1-year supervisory/managerial probationary period may be required.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-H, FG/GS-12, CPC level. Applicants must have specialized experience in an air traffic facility which demonstrates possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the level of work of the advertised position. This experience must have provided a comprehensive knowledge of appropriate air traffic control laws, rules and regulations. Such experience is typically demonstrated by accomplishment of assignments of the difficulty and responsibility described in the position classification standard used to evaluate positions at the next lower grade/pay band level (FV-H, FG/GS-12, CPC).In addition to the minimum qualifications, the following has been determined to be a selective factor for this position. This means possession of this criterion is part of the minimum qualifications and is essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of this position. Applicants who do not possess this criterion are ineligible for further consideration.Qualified candidates must meet the following Selective Placement Factor as determined by responses to the “Other Factors”:Do you currently hold or have you ever held an FSS facility rating issued by the Federal Aviation Administration while employed at a Federal FSS facility?Applicants must be facility rated or previously have held a facility rating in a Flight Service Station (FSS). Applicants must indicate on their application package that they have held or currently have this rating.
