This position is located at Bureau of the Fiscal Service, Post Payment Division. As an Accounting Technician, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to the timely and accurate processing of post payment exceptions, handling of check returns, items requiring reconciliation, and Automated Clearinghouse (ACH) Returns and ACH Non-Receipt claims.
Duties
As an Accounting Technician, you will:
Determine proper classification and processing of U.S. Treasury check reconciliation items.
Validate transactions and perform research to identify and resolve inconsistencies.
Analyze and resolve processing problems and determine when other corrective action may be required
Process exceptions related to the U.S. Treasury checks, such as mutilated and previously cancelled checks.
Resolve non-receipt allegations made by payment recipients for electronic payments.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Specialized Experience: For the GS-07, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
-Using automated reporting and/or accounting systems to reconcile and process accounting and/or other financial management transactions.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-07, you must have been at the GS-06 level for 52 weeks.
