About the Position: The incumbent will serve as a Lead Watch Captain for the Operations Directorate in Miami FL.
Duties
Formulate recommendations that may have national impact/consequences and clearly submit those recommendations to leadership.
Identify problems within the mission areas and develop recommendations before they impair unit readiness or ongoing operations.
Develop standard operating procedures throughout the organization to provide appropriate responses to contingency operations or crisis events.
Monitor and track the disposition of U.S. forces throughout the area of responsibility, providing timely and accurate situational data to leadership.
Monitor and assess changes to operational readiness throughout the organization.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Position requires a top-secret security clearance as the incumbent will be required to access, process, use, and safeguard classified National Defense information.
- This position is designated a mission essential position. The employee may be required to remain on duty or report for duty during severe weather or other installation closings.
- A drug test is required.
- TDY can be anticipated up to 10% of the time. Travel by military and/or commercial aircraft may be required in attending training, visiting other activities, and/or attending conferences.
- Incumbent must possess or obtain and maintain a current and valid passport.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1). Direct current operations of military and civilian personnel to achieve mission readiness status; 2). Serve as a conduit for operational information to execute emergency action and crisis notification procedures; and 3). Assign work to personnel based on priority level to meet organizational deadlines.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13 or above).
