This position is located within the Customer Assistance Division under Customer Loan Servicing Directorate, Servicing & Asset Management Office.
The Customer Assistance Division staff provides customer support and mitigates financial risk through processing accurate and timely loan servicing financial transactions and adjustments. The incumbent will assist customers with their accounts, any account discrepancies, and/or financial, or accounting transaction updates.
Duties
Provide efficient and accurate customer service via multichannel communications to a nationwide portfolio for all current and delinquent
program loan and grant recipients and other external customers.
Utilize customer financial activity to reconcile and verify loan activity. Process financial and/or accounting transactions to establish and adjust loan balances and repayment activity on borrower accounts.
Make account adjustments and correct discrepancies; balance and reconcile updates to financial data, prepare worksheets to prove accuracy of financial/accounting system records and initiates corrective actions.
Document and maintain the internal control structure to ensure that all funds are received, disbursed, and accounted for as well as applied to
customer’s accounts in a timely and accurate manner.
Requirements

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
GS-07:Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level; or its non-Federal equivalent that demonstrates researching loan documents pertaining property taxes and escrow analysis. Using system information to contact tax collectors to obtain property tax information, to include current owner, delinquent amount due, delinquent installments due, and penalty amount. Using regulations and system information to accurately calculate escrow payments, escrow surplus/shortage, and required escrow deposits.
There is no substitution of education for experience at the GS-07 grade level.
